Communicate Value: Why Integrating Blogging with Social Media is a Great Combination

    Great write up!

I knew about the notes features in Facebook, but I hadn't seen the Networked Blogs app. It sounds interesting. I haven't played much in Facebook, but I really like your point that not everybody is up to speed on using RSS. It seems like everybody is in Facebook though.

Hi Christine - I just found out about the Networked Blogs app on Facebook over the weekend. Doh! I'm really new to Facebook anyway - and was excited when one out of our five kids accepted me as a friend. :D

J.D. is so right - we forget that not everyone even knows what RSS is. It's up to us to make sure we're available to be found in the ways that people might be looking for us. I'm looking forward to seeing your post on FriendFeed - another place I'd like to utilize more. I'm there, but don't quite "get it." Thanks.

I have a professional page on Facebook - just search for "Law Firm of Anthony Verna" and there are fans. My blog is replicated there, so it appears on multiple websites. These are just necessary tools in today's world.

@J.D.--Thanks! Yes, Facebook continues to grow at an astronomical rate. Even business owners who have shied away from it as a marketing tool have to admit that their target market's got to be somewhere on there. It's strongly worth considering.

With RSS, I think the statistic is that only 11% of people use RSS feeds to read blog content. Surprises me considering it has been around around awhile and is so convenient to use.

@Betsy--My mom is on Facebook too, was surreal at first but I think it's fun! :P

Absolutely, marketing is all about maximizing ways to be found--especially true online. I'll get on that FriendFeed post soon. :)

@Anthony--Good for you for having a fan page. You are actually ahead of the curve--I'd say especially for most lawyers, who aren't even on Facebook.
